Located in Yellowstone is Blacktail Pond. Like Swan Lake Flat, Blacktail Pond is a great area for wildlife and wildlife-watching that is located just off of Grand Loop Road east of Mammoth Village. This area is one of the best for bird-watching fans and is a common spot to see Sandhill Cranes, Canada Geese, Bald Eagles, and other waterfowl. Among its mammalian visitors are Pronghorn Antelope (which is not actually a kind of antelope) and Bison. There is a convenient free pullout view next to this landmark six miles east of Mammoth Village on the left.
