The ultimate idea behind the Neutrogena Hydro Boost line is ultimate hydration with every step, the gem that accomplishes this? Purified hyaluronic acid. This ingredient is like a sponge, absorbing 1000x its weight in water. While hyaluronic acid does naturally occur in the skin, just like everything else it deteriorates over time. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost line applies it topically through serums, masks, moisturizers, sun care, and even makeup in order to replenish hydration. In a series of reviews, I will cover my thoughts about each individual member of this line and what I feel it has done for my chronically dry skin.
I’ve been using the Neutrogena Multivitamin Booster Face Serum for over a year now and it has remained one of my top products. It packs intense hydration in a dime-size amount of product. A little bit can go a long way and so I only use one to two pumps. Neutrogena’s website says that this product improves skins moisture barrier, and intensely hydrates and energizes the look of skin. In my experience all of these things are true. I have also used this product around my eyes, on my eyelids and the delicate under eye area, when I need more hydration there. I have especially sensitive skin in these areas which can be prone to mild eczema if the area gets dry enough. This formula is non-comedogenic and dermatologist tested and so will not clog pores. According to Neutrogena's website, there is a fragrance in this formula so if you are particularly sensitive to fragrance I would spot test this before using it on your face (a spot test is when you place a small amount of the inside of your arm to test for irritation.) In my experience, it has been soothing to already irritated skin and I have never had a poor reaction with any of the ingredients contained in this formula. I have used this on skin prone to eczema and on sunburned skin. In addition to my own experience, SkinSAFE, a website dedicated to flagging products of common allergens, has said that this product is 91 percent safe and is free of the following common allergens: allergy-causing preservatives, parabens, lanolin, topical antibiotics, MCI/MI, nickel, gluten, and soy.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an effective, affordable serum for dry or sensitive skin. Click on photo to buy now.
