Rating: 9/10
This young adult fiction or adult fiction fantasy novel, ‘A Court of Frost and Starlight,’ is considered an intermediary between the third and fourth novels in the ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ Series rather than a novel to stand on its own. Because of that, it is almost entirely romance with very little action. It sets the stage for the final novel, ‘A Court of Silver Flames.’ We get a vision for what Feyrah, our strong female protagonist, and Rhysand’s life is developing into as they recover from the war and from the trauma of each other's deaths in the first and third novels, ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ and ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin.’ Feyrah begins to paint again, Nesta withdraws from the family, Lucien is traveling, Tamlin is utterly and completely alone. But even through the melodrama of the family, Feyrah and Rhysand are portrayed as a healthy, loving couple that is unmatched in their ability to communicate, compromise, and understand each other.
While this novel is necessary to understand the unraveling of the future plot for the fifth and final novel, ‘A Court of Silver Flames,’ it is not nearly as action-packed as any of the other novels and is shorter than the other three.
The ‘A Court of Frost and Starlight,’ novel is preceded by the three other novels in the series: ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses,’ ‘A Court of Mist and Fury,’ and ‘A Court of Wings and Ruin.’
