We started the day hiking the Mist Trail which is seven miles with a 4,000-foot elevation gain and boasts views of Vernal and Nevada Falls. There’s an excellent view for photos of Vernal Falls at the footbridge at .75 miles in.

We stopped for lunch, simple peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and apples, at noon at Vernal Falls on our way back out.

After that, we hiked the short two-mile distance to Mirror Lake via the trail of the same name. From this trail, you’ll find views of Half Dome directly from its base, Tenaya Canyon, Mount Watkins, and Washington Column among others. Following our day of hiking, we returned to camp that evening for dinner and s’mores.
