Located in Yellowstone, 1.6 miles south of Tower Junction is the Calcite Spring loop. This loop is 0.2 miles of easy boardwalks with platforms overlooking the Narrows of the Yellowstone River that provide a free self-guided tour. From here you can also see basalt columns formed from lava that are across the ravine and 500 feet below the platform the Yellowstone River rages. The geothermal Calcite Spring itself colors the ridge white and yellow with minerals.
