Genre: Young Adult Fiction
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Kingdom of Ash was my least favorite book of the entire series. I don’t think you could get away with not reading it because it does wrap up all of the loose ends of the series but in the last 200 pages I felt that Sarah J. Maas betrayed the character that she created and that made the entire nearly-1000 page novel the worst of the series for me. For the beginning of the book, I enjoyed the chapters with Aelin as the narrator and reading about her experiences and how she escapes the various obstacles in her way. I did find the chapters in which Dorian, Manon, or Chaol were the main focus to be more boring and during those chapters I found myself putting the book down more often and being disinterested in what was happening. I had to push myself sometimes to read through those chapters to get back to what was happening to Aelin but Aelin is also my favorite character and so perhaps my love of her chapters over the others is biased.
This series is a must-read for any young-adult fantasy lovers. It’s action-packed and the plot keeps me riveted throughout every novel including this one. Read the entire Throne of Glass Series: Assassin's Blade, Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows, Empire of Storms, Tower of Dawn, Kingdom of Ash.
