Located in Yellowstone is one of the more famous geothermal landmarks among Mammoth Hot Springs Upper Terrace, Orange Spring Mound. Orange Spring Mound is known for its brilliant orange hue which cascades like a waterfall from the top of the mound, around the side before spreading across the plateau. This is a result of bacteria and algae growing in the extremely slow-moving water flow and the rich deposition of minerals. You can see it for free along the Mammoth Hot Springs Upper Terrace drive making it easy to access and view for people of all ages and abilities.
