Petrified Tree

Updated: Sep 16, 2020

Petrified Trees of Yellowstone National Park.

Located in Yellowstone is Petrified Tree which can be reached via Tower Junction and viewed for free. At Tower Junction take a side road west for 0.8 miles to find a lonely Petrified Tree on a steep hillside from thousands of years ago, now a #historic glory. Once a giant, ancient Redwood tree from a temperate rainforest, now the lone survivor of the last eruption of the massive supervolcano that lays dormant beneath Yellowstone. A 0.25-mile path leads up to the tree which is now fenced in to protect it from unruly souvenir seekers.
