Undine Falls

Updated: Sep 16, 2020

Lava creek spills over the cliff face into a freefall below.

Located in #Yellowstone is Undine Falls which can be reached from Mammoth Village via the Grand Loop Road by proceeding east for 19 miles across the Blacktail Deer Plateau and ending at Tower Junction. Four miles east of Mammoth Village on Grand Loop Road is Undine Falls with a convenient free lookout over the vista located on the left side of the road. Lava Creek falls 60 feet off of a 700,000-year-old cliff face formed from lava and has three shelves that give the waterfall dimension. This waterfall is called Undine Falls after German folk myths of water spirits.
